(edit: The dot is fixed. Derp) (edit 2: Ok, the drider's left hand still really bothers me...will also add that to the to-fix list)
This artwork has had it's time coming. I know there's always more room for polish, but 1- I don't want to catch the "over-polish" bug that tends to stiffen a lot of artworks, and 2- I really just want to move on to other artworks.
Thus concludes my revamped version of "In the Drider's Den." The original can be found here: [link]
I'll say that I'm proud of parts of this artwork. Mainly happy with how Lynn came out (though I think it's REALLY obvious that I focused a lot of my energy painting her) as well as the way the lighting/values was handled in parts of the artwork. It's still not the baseline professional skill level that I want to eventually be at, but I think it's a HUGE leap with my digital painting skills. Definitely got my light and optics instructor to thank for that.
Can't stop here though. Still a lot of things in my artwork that I can really, really suck less at. IT'S GO TIME P:
One thing I do have to point out in this pic that I found interesting was how you have the other two ladies webbed against the walls of the lair but Lynn is in her own cocoon separate from other elements. I'm sure it was a conscious choice in order to have some focus of the piece on her but it also makes one wonder about the timeline leading up to the piece. Were the other two previous captives and Lynn being the latest unfortunate victim?
Yeah, that was definitely a conscious choice. It wasn't meant to say anything about the timeline, but more so to show that the drider was pretty much done with the other two and was intent on toying with Lynn.
Turned out very well. Was fun flipping between this and the last WIP to see the changes. Beyond the drider's hands, it seems like you tweaked/reduced the size of some of the shadows.
WELP. NEVER LOOK BACK LOLOLOL
